Who would've thought Daredevil could be this funny?
I just finished reading Daredevil: Man Without Fear #9: King of Hell’s Kitchen and there were some really great lines that just made me laugh.
(Daredevil talking to Foggy on the phone)
DD: I need you to bring me something to wear.
F: Something red?
DD: It’s red?
F: What?
DD: I thought it was yellow.
F: ...
DD: ...
F: Are you serious?
DD: No.
(After breaking down a wall to assult the Yakuza HQ in Hell’s Kitchen)
Spider-Man: Actually I’m just here to use the bathroom.
(Fighting Yakuza henchmen)
Henchman: D-Don’t hurt me!
Spider-Man: Damn Cage, you didn’t even raise a hand. You beat him up with a look.
Luke Cage: It’s my trademark.
Spider-Man: I gotta get a look.
(After Yakuza fight)
SM: If it’s any consolation, you pretty much solidified my belief in keeping my secret identity a secret, like, forever. Because man, I do not want to be you. No offense.
DD: I really did make a mess of things this time.
LC: And now you get to be Kingpin too.
DD: What a mess.
LC: Yeah, well now you have something to do.
SM: Well if you ever need help, and you know I mean this, call the X-Men! I have a hot wife at home. I so don’t need to be here.
Iron Fist: Does he have a hot wife?
LC: I thought he was gay.
IF: So did I.
LC: And you wear yellow booties.
IF: They were a present.
LC: From a guy.
IF: I’m leaving.
Such a good series.
Subscriptions are back!
I’m staggering my return a bit so this way I can start getting comics sooner. Within a couple weeks I’ll be able to start ordering again.
Everything is Paused or Deleted (Temporarily)
It’s happened to another one of us here at Heavy Ink. I’m still employed (thank goodness) it’s just I’ve hit a bad case of no money. So everything has been paused and deleted, but hopefully it’ll all be back in about a month.
Again, awesomeness
Why must I see things I shouldn’t spend money on?? (Of course, if I stopped buying comics for a single month I could afford this easily, but that’s crazy talk).
This is so awesome...
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen and I want one so badly. Too bad it’s $260… I definitely don’t have that much money to spend on bookends, no matter how cool they are.
I has a quiz!
I decided to make a quiz! It’s the Marvel Villains one. I like how it turned out. Please take it multiple times to see the different results you can get. The results are my favorite part.
I also was pleasantly surprised by how the quiz creation system was set up. I knew nothing about it as I was going in and I found it to be very user friendly.
I just wanted to put something down here explaining how I made the quiz. I tried to make my quiz questions applicable to the format they are presented in. The format is the level of agree/disagree, so I tried to make sure that all of the answers and the villains that they were connected to made sense. For example: The statement “The clothes make the man” so on the scale of agree/disagree, the villains with cool costumes would be on the right and the ones with lame ones are on the left. The reason I did this is I don’t like Yes/No questions on a scale of 1 to 8. : )
Some options that would be cool to see in the future: The ability to work with the quizzes displayed on your profile page, like what order you want to display them in. Another thing is maybe the option for the quiz creator to go in and edit their quiz? (I’ve already found one small typo X_x)
So everyone please take my quiz! Pst! See if you can find the secret result!!
Issues Vs. Trades
I find myself being plagued by this decision for every series I buy. Do I want to buy the individual issues, or do I want to buy them when they come out in trades, or do I buy both? Both options have their pros and cons. Buying individual issues means I have reading material more frequently; but that also means that I finish reading it that much faster. I love trades because they usually have complete storylines, but then I have to wait a really long time to get them.
For which one I choose, I find it depends on: 1)How much I like the series 2)How fast the story moves along 3)How much I can stand cliffhangers 4)How patient I am
I only read The Walking Dead in its hardcover volume trades because otherwise the story would take way too long for me and the cliffhangers would be excruciatingly painful. The same for Invincible. I have to read it in the big hardcovers otherwise the story would move too slowly for me.
Most of the Ultimate titles I read the paperback trades because it works out well I think in that format. I couldn’t read Ultimate Spider-Man in the issue format because I would get way too impatient for the story to move along.
There are some titles that I have to read immediately. This includes Garth Ennis’s The Boys and Angel: After the Fall. The trades take way too long to come out for these series so in order to get my fix I get the individual issues as they come out. Of course, I then get the trade when it releases, to reread everything. If you stay in paperback format, it’s not that expensive to maintain this habit of buying the same comic twice in different formats.
