I've only been reading comics for about 4 years.  I actually live about a minute and a half's walk from my local comic shop, but Heavy Ink is 20% cheaper, so I can fit an extra book into my monthly comics budget!

This is a really innovative entry into the superhero genre. I worried that it would be treading the somewhat tired ground of “What if superheroes were real?”, but this is something more than that. This book asks “Why doesn’t anyone really try being a costumed vigilante?”... And then it answers that question by brutal example.

Wow. This comic is just… incredibly brutal… I have changed my mind about wanting zombies to attack.

Re-watching the cartoon this is based on together was something of a bonding experience for my girlfriend and I, so I have a little bit of a bias towards this material, but this book is written by the writer of the original show, and it’s clearly something he’s passionate about. If you liked the show I recommend the comic. Unfortunately they are currently (issue 8) halfway through a three part plot-line told out of sequence in a way that I am finding somewhat frustrating.

This, along with the following two issues, is presented in an out-of-sequence storytelling sort of way that I really don’t think suits the material. I worry that having 3 issues (six months) of jumbled and hard to interpret material will make a lot of people not want to keep picking these up.

Judging by the first couple of issues, this is a cracking good horror story with clear and precise art. I’m sold.

Anyone as interested in Invincible as I will leap at the chance to see Atom Eve in a solo book. I was disappointed to find that it was not written by Kirkman, however I never felt that the book was too much of a stylistic departure from the main comic. The line work on the cover is ugly as sin, but the comic’s contents are ably drawn, and fans of the character will be easily sucked into the story.

This was one of the series that brought me back into comics. Maybe the series. Since this I have tried to catch everything I could by Bendis, and I haven't been unhappy yet.

It's a teen superhero comic for real comic lovers, and my one absolute must buy comic. It's humor, plot, and characters are all the best in comics right now. If you haven't been reading it, you should.

This starts off like a great classic zombie movie... What makes it unique is that the hits keep coming when most movies would have long since rolled the credits. The characters are smart, capable, emotionally true to life, and totally doomed. This spectacular series breathes new life into the entire horror genre.
