This is a really innovative entry into the superhero genre. I worried that it would be treading the somewhat tired ground of “What if superheroes were real?”, but this is something more than that. This book asks “Why doesn’t anyone really try being a costumed vigilante?”... And then it answers that question by brutal example.

Wow. This comic is just… incredibly brutal… I have changed my mind about wanting zombies to attack.

Re-watching the cartoon this is based on together was something of a bonding experience for my girlfriend and I, so I have a little bit of a bias towards this material, but this book is written by the writer of the original show, and it’s clearly something he’s passionate about. If you liked the show I recommend the comic. Unfortunately they are currently (issue 8) halfway through a three part plot-line told out of sequence in a way that I am finding somewhat frustrating.
