For me, finishing any piece of writing is like trying to raise a million dollars in a week by being punched in the face for a penny.
I haven’t written anything past the seven pages on Family Comedy Movie. IN my defense, I have ben quite sick, and have decided to take the weekend off from worrying about it, as Sarah and I go visit family.
Yay! Road Trip!
I started a short story. I hope to finish it by the end of the week, in preparation for selling it to a magazine or some such other situation. I started writing as son as I had a title; In All His Precious Glory
So! Last Night I made all the necessary “Sarah the Loving Copywriter” corrections in Romantic Comedy Screenplay.
Oh, and let me just say…even though I forgot my lunch and didn’t know what to do about dinner. God provides at all times when needed…as it turns out our work was havign a giant festival with free EVERYTHING. From Food, to treats, to massages and polaroids!
It lasted well past dinnertime, so Sarah and I left the celebration full and giggling, and sat in the library working on art. I wrote, hwile she edited photos. I loaded what I had previosuly started months ago as Family COmedy Screenplay, onlyt o find I already had 12 pages written.
I decided that I wanted a fresh start, so erased all the pages and wrote until I got to page seven. So far I’ve referenced Mortal Kombat AND Jesus in two seperate jokes. I like where this one is going!
It’s interestign to me, as I already have a seven page treatement of the entire story, thatI’m building upon skills I’ve learned wth these last two projects, and evolving them towards this one.
Through the halls of frayed rugs and molding portraits, through the annex and into the dining hall of despair we sit and eat Fettucini Alfredo.
I smile over my cup of wine, a dusty glass of sparkling spirits, and turn to wink at my Love.
We welcome you.
Updates!
Today I start work on Family Comedy Screenplay, hopign to finish it in just under two weeks.
Action Comedy Screenplay is completed, with Romantic Comedy Screenplay awaiting just a few minor tweaks of spelling and clarity.
Finished it.
Roughly anyhow, but hey! As of last night, Action Comedy Screenplay is done. A few minor fix-ups and tweaks, and Sarah will be reading it this weekend : )
Last night I wrote and wrote and wrote (14 pages!) then laid awake all night wondering how point A of the ending gets to point B.
Anyway, here’s some more music news:
Sarah and I shared our first kiss to a William Fitzsimmon’s album. It doens’t really get more indie then that, we could have our wedding superimposed into scenes of Garden State and STILL not get more credentials…
While I sit here at the- wait.
Okay, had to change tables.
While I sit here at the Library of Love, listening to some jackass flip papers and whisper like it’s acceptable forms of flirting, I’ll warm up my little fingers with coffee and a blog post.
I’ve been listening to a lot of bad-ass music lately, and it’s time I clue you folks in, dipping into the iPod of Doom, we have the following selections:
The other day Sarah sat down and read Romantic Comedy Screenplay in it’s entirety as I sat across from her and worked on Action Comedy Screenplay. I wrote and wrote and wrote for the last few days, and now find myself (roughly)on page 66!
I don’t WANT to write today.
I spent yesterday working on Action Comedy Screenplay, and although I’m proud of where it’s heading, and how things are shaping up. I don’t WANT to do anything today. NOTHING.
What’s the point of having a blog if you don’t write it in?
The answer, oddly enough, is 1794.
Many things a-goin’ on, and a’hapeenin.
Finally finished screenplay no. 1, which, in the spirit of genre, we’ll refer to as Romantic Comedy Screenplay.
I just wrote something. I was supposed to be finishing my screenplay. ...But I accidentally wrote two scenes of something else. It’s a comedy. ...it’s ridiculous.
Item! – Welcome Home, You Lowdown Caballero! Is still in the process of getting inked, still thinking about what to do about a letterer or as Sarah calls it, ...a letterist.
Item! – Best band ever? Two of my brothers are on the road with their new group, The Cactus’s. Check it out.
Item! – David Wise the composer of all the Donkey Kong Country games contacted my former comedy group, and said he loved the video, and asked if he could show it in a seminar about his music. This has a holy shit rating of 5000.
Item! – Head over fucking heels in love with Sarah Kachevas.
The cave-in was massive.
The dust from the walls was an archaically fed mushroom, billowing up into the sky.
The entire west wing of The tower had fallen, crumbling into ruins of mortar.
Crushing me under it’s weight.
I specialize in is something I call 30 second comedy. I’m not naive enough to believe I invented it, only that I fully support it.
What it is is you take a joke, a hilarious scene, and grind it down to the quickest beat possible.
My name is Todd Michael Rogers
I’m sitting here at Panera bread with an itchy seat full of unwashed jeans.
the overhead speakers are blaring what i can only describe as Helen Keller on sax.
A light rock acid washed bullshit crescendo for the masses.
Eat our Bread! and listen to yourself die.
I am still alive.
Unerringly relentless in my campaign to blog from my great tower of semi opaque darkness, it’s windows curtained in un-lint-rollable grey velour
I bring you word from the Castle of Gloom!
Last week (last week?!) I read the prologue to The Book of Nog out loud to Sarah.
She really seemed to like it, and even gave me a high five (the lover’s equivalent of a firm handshake of awareness)
can’t stop working on The Book of Nog, though I really do hope to take another crack at Screenplay no.1 by the end of next week; not to mention start (and subsequently finish) screenplay no. 2.
I think I’m addicted to writing.
I spent last night sitting next to Sarah at my parent’s house as she edited photos of The Cactus’s (best band in Nashville).
I wrote at random, and ended up with a prelude to The Book of Nog. As of this morning I have a prelude, and roughs of the first 5 to 6 chapters.
Went over to Team Genius headquarters yesterday where I was greeted with he following video from Germany:
But she is gorgeous.
Spent the morning researching “letterers” for “Welcome Home, You Lowdown Caballero!”
That’s gonna take some tick-tock’s and thinking.
After that, I spent the rest of the morning finishing a (rough? finished?) chapter 2 for The Book of Nog. Sent it to Sarina through iChat while I was working on it and apparently it’s “not boring”, which what I asked her, bless her little interweb-swept heart.
Stuck at Starbucks in Franklin.
Had a wonderful meeting this morning with a gentleman (we’ll call him David, because that was his name).
Wrote Sarina a very long love poem.
Via iChat to Sarina:
I can’t tell if I’m pissed because this guy over here has the audacity to play b-52’s out loud of his computer speakers in the cafe ...or if I’m pissed because I’m singing along
Just JUST…(a little bit ago) finished writing issue 1 of Captain Warlock vs. Black Emperor
So today is going to be a good day and a busy week.
My friends Sakroka and Paxson of Ashgarden would be happy to know I spent Saturday working on EPIC, our card game.
I have to shit.
Hey did you guys (all three of you) know that I have a sketch comedy group?
I write for and pretend to star in several videos available here:
www.teamgenius.biz
I’m pretty proud of us, though so far our latest video is certainly our best:
Back in Nashville for the day,
The penciled pages from Weshoyot were, of course, fantastic.
Welcome Home, You Lowdown Caballero! is going to be fanTASTIC!
After stumbling upon old ideas and bits of writing, I spent most of this morning writing about other worlds, Mostly stuff for a novel called Drowning Lessons, and also an old thing on The Man of Moths, (who’s name is apparently Felix Forgotten) for my other novel, The Book of Nog.
I just finished screenplay no. 1 not but half an hour ago.
Now I just have to have Sarina read it and tell me why I’m wrong.
I suppose the next step is to get it registered and then figure out if I want to pursue an agent or try to sell it on my own.
Just finished a rough rewrite and edit of screenplay no. 1
and I changed the ending so that it feels much more…”right” now.
I broke down the scenes on a notepad and i think I know how to “fix” certain things that don’t feel right, and expand the screenplay into about the right “length”.
Last night while Sarah photoshopped, I started to work on EPIC, my card game of awesomeness.
And as much as I want to write about EPIC, that’ll have to wait, as today we’ll be talking about “Ridiculous!” which is the game I ended up accidentally creating last night and working on instead.
I had a beautiful morning, with a beautiful girl.
The plan today is to start finishing screenplay no. 1, now that I’ve made all of my notes and editorial slash marks across typos and shitty scenes alike.
I have to start writing, like now.
