While I grew up with Spider-Man, Batman, The Hulk, and Captain America, the comic that got me started with collecting was The Tick. Issue #8 to be exact. That set the tone for everything that was to follow. I tend to shy away from the mainstream. Some of my other favorites have been The Maxx, Battle Angel, Madman, Flaming Carrot, Scud, and Hellboy. The creators who can’t be beat: Rob Schrab, Mike Allred, Doug TenNapel, Mike Mignola, Geof Darrow. Kurt Busiek’s Conan series has been top notch. Most recently I’ve been following the work of artist Humberto Ramos.
