The series was cancled in the 80s (like most things in the 80s should have been) and then brought back in 2005. Something doesn’t last from the 60s till the 80s without having something right. In the “new series,” it’s the same continuity (we aren’t classic vs new haters like Trekkies) but they did something special. For the first time since way back when, the Doctor explained who he is, where he’s from, what the TARDIS is and why it’s a blue box and all of that. To indicate the wonderful time to start watching Doctor Who again, instead of calling it series 27 (season 27 in the US), they call it series 1. So, check out Doctor Who, Series 1. Make sure it’s the 2005 version… it’ll be easy to tell. It’ll be in color. :)

I’ve never been willing to give myself the time to invest myself into Dr. Who. I know for a fact I would enjoy it (I liked the episodes I saw on late night PBS in the mid-nineties), but I like to know the WHOLE story. And there’s about a million years of Dr. Who stuff. Maybe one day I’ll jump in…
about time travel… Have you read Doctor Who Magazine? It has a comic in it that’s GREAT! The writers and artists change every story arc and it makes it constantly interesting. They don’t have it an heavyink though :( The Doctor Who Mini series is something different (and to be frank, is awful).
