Garth Ennis likes his nadshots. None from Preacher, though – there must have been nadshots in Preacher!?

Hey ST, if you weren’t able to start your sub of Dynamite Pilot with issue #1, you should be able to update it to do so now… we’ve just ordered a few more copies.
Don’t remember if it’s with you or another American friend to be honest, guess we’re both getting old. ;)
Anyway, that’s very cool. Were you reading them in English? I’m French first, English second, so I read them in French. I also read all of the Tintin books at one point or another, but the humour in the Asterix ones is what grabbed me more and why I simply liked them more.
There have been three live action Asterix movies that I know of and of the three, I’ve only seen one, Mission Cleopatra. I thought it was very funny and pretty well done and that it remained quite true to the stories I knew and loved as a child. I saw it in French though, i.e. non-dubbed, no clue if a dubbed version would be good or not, although I read on wikipedia that the English dubbed version was Americanized a little bit.
No clue if that would interest you or not, but with the Holidays coming, TV will be showing plenty of animated Asterix movies in French around here. I could record them and send you the DVDs. That is, if you can understand French… :)

Asterix & Oblix are awesome – I grew up reading those, too (and Tintin). But maybe we talked about this already? Can’t remember… anyway, I recently learned there were some live action Asterix movies… have you seen them? If so: any good?
“Anyone else remember the ‘90s Not really, but folks who do said it looked like I was enjoying myself.”
LOL!
Here is that site: wrightsonsfrankenstein.com

Bleargh. Didn’t get to the con. Oh well.
Bummer. I remember a few years ago Wrightson was asking people to send him high resolution scans of the illustrations that they purchased from him because he was going to publish his own version of the book. It was going to cost $300-400…but I wonder if he gave-up on that and gave the files over to Dark Horse for this new book.

Dan, great Berni Wrightson story! And an awesome surprise in the form of a Ralph Reese story…that is simply excellent. All just in time for the Frankenstein reprint (I think I now have 2 copies of it, paperback from when Marvel published it, a hardcover from a few years ago when Underwood reprinted it…and now I am thinking of buying this one as well if the reproductions are good).

Some Bernie Wrightson for ya!
Now that is some pro-level customer service! This is why Heavy Ink gets my funnybook money. Thanks, Dan!

Thanks Dan, I must apologize to you. I just realized I inadvertently spelled your name wrong last night, sorry about that. : )

Nice sub list, too – you’ve tempted me into ordering Cursed Pirate Girl #1.
Hi Dam,
I just saw your blurb regarding Mesmo. I’ve been waiting for that one and forgot about it until I saw said blurb.
Thanks very much for posting that, it looks like it’s going to be a good one.
Good sir -
Your custom WW2 military motorcycle with dachshund-modified side car and “chew toy turret gun” is complete and road ready.
thanks for the link. It’s indeed odd. Whatever link with a picture of Jay is linking straight to the frontpage…
allrighty!

OK, will do. They’re at the office, I think, so I’ll put it up tomorrow.
I do say Daniel – hope all is still Tip Top even in my absence.
ps – Ever find my stash? Hint: Check the hallowed out bust of Shakespeare.
ok thanks!

you can put the seventh page up! but after that no more! I don’t think we meant to send the whole thing.
Great idea! I’ll try it.

Well, I try to avoid works by authors who think I’m an idiot, too, which is a great way of putting it. Unfortunately, I’m not a big reader of the superhero stuff these days, other than a sort of unkickable nostalgia addiction to the sort of 1960-70s cosmic space opera-type stuff that’s still going on in occasional special series like Annihilation, Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.
I think your best bet is to start a forum thread asking for adivce. Most of the folks there follow the current crop of superhero titles closely and enthusiastically. Since the ways to find folks on HeavyInk are mostly via interaction in the forum, following linked reviews, etc., I’m guessing not many folks know your blog is here (there IS a list of all public personal profiles, but it’s currently not easy to find/notice – something we’ll shortly be addressing). Anyway, I think folks would be very happy to recommend stuff to you in the forum.
You said….
“BTW, James, a couple of us HeavyInkers are Chicagoboyz fans…”
I am thrilled that you have read my unworthy posts. Thank you kindly for letting me know!

Thanks Dan! Really liking this site!

Hi Aaron – welcome to HeavyInk!
The worse part is, the more you talk about it, the further down it goes. O_O It just slid lower!!!

Damn – Daynah’s blurb about her boobs finally begins its inexorable slide down the page. Oh well.

Hey man, I saw that you are picking up the new issue of The Killer. I don’t know what’s been going on with the long wait, but I highly recommend you check out a movie called Le Samourai, a fantastic movie about a french hitman, and from what I’ve heard a major influence for this comic.
Sooo it looks like you’re the reason HeavyInk’s logo wont be on my boobs at a nerdy con. ;)
Oh, no. Haha. I have seen it though. Mastodon’s my favorite band, so that’s why I have that up.
Dan said:
Are you the guy who made that webcomic?
Oh, apologies for taking so amazingly long to reply. I apparently don’t check this often. You can see my illustration work at: deadend-detour.com
Dan said:
So, is there anyplace online one can see your illustration work?
Yeah! It’s one of my favs! I’m a Grant Morrison fangirl. :) Invisibles was actually one of the first comics I read. You should read it whie tripping on cold medicine. I called me friends explaining that the Beatles were God and didn’t get much further than that.
Dan said:
Have you read The Invisibles? It’s outstanding.
Thanks for the heads up. It’s good to see that our efforts to make every issue accessible have been appreciated.
That’s cool that your mom got you into comics. I’m scared that because I like comics, me kids are going to rebel and like… football or something dastardly like that.
And whenever I read or watch something horrid I think about all the people it went though that said, “Yes, this is worth risking out money on.” There’s writer, artists, colorists, inker and letterer (all depending of course)... then comes more than a few editors. Don’t ever blame one editor for a work, there’s always an editor editing an editor. Then marketing and other departments read it, or at least sample the titles occasionally.
And ALL of those people said… “YES! We are going to sink some money into THIS project because we think people are going to buy so much of THIS that we’ll make money off of it. THIS is where it’s happening! THIS is where it’s at!”
That’s usually where I start crying in horrible movies. Why didn’t the actor at one point just look up and say, “Seriously, NO ONE is going to sit through this shit. Am I the only one to notice this?”
I wont lie. I don’t know half the words you said there. My expertise in syntax does not carry over into semantics.

Wow, all this silly pontificating goes really well with my patriarch-ish-looking 1844 daguerreo-tar, doesn’t it?
Being business savy is very important. I go to a university that has a high ranking business school and we get business lessons injected into all of the disciplines. It’s constantly, “How can I make money with this?” and “How can I market this?” I know, because of this training, that I’m better off going into the real world with this very practical degree, that someone with a a degree from a nose-in-their-books school.
Valerie (Occasional Superheroine) is super-fab. I always find her blogs fun to read, where as some other women comic-readers blog nothing but “blah blah whine whine, not enough women readers.”
Thanks! I can’t really pull off evil, though the photographer also wanted me to. :) I’ve got crazy baby cheeks. There are some other pictures of me on the photographer’s website where I look manical… but I was going for sexy! Just proof that I should really just stick to the cute… and never be a stripper.
If blogs had comments… I’d comment on “The Factual Opinion has”... and what I’d say is: “Hahaha”.
Speaking of blog comments… they should be here today or tomorrow. Hurrah.

Hmm…yeah. It seems odd that there wouldn’t be any from Preacher. There’s no way there aren’t any nadshots in Preacher. I’m going to have to look through them now….
That last picture is hilarious.
I’ve read through the first 3 trades of Preacher and I’ve found 3 nadshots so far. (more if getting shot in the nads counts).
