Hmmm. What to say, what to say. Will this be another orphaned Cam on the intertubes? Will it somehow break the cycle and get attention—and more importantly, content? Time will tell.

Oh, and the last Starman series (all wrapped up and readily available in TPB form - plus, and Omnibus version was announced today.)
castewar says:
Everyone covered Walking Dead, Y the Last Man, and Transmetropolitan - If you're wandering down Watchmen lane, I'd also recommend Marvels and New Frontier. Watchmen and New Frontier asap, as the movie for the former and the DVD movie for the later are coming very soon.

Walking Dead isn't just a zombie title, it's the zombie title. It's incredibly well-written. "In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living." Just awesome.
Watchmen is an awesome read. And hey, I'm just going to say it, I like the Sandman series (third volume is the best collection of the lot, if you ask me). I'll also vouch for Y the Last Man. I'm going to add onto that Transmetropolitain for some gritty misanthropic bad-assery, and if you're in the mood for something silly, I can't recommend anything but Five Fists of Science.
There's a little to get you started :)

Y the last man is a pretty top notch read.
Powers is grand.
oh duh, and watchmen? have you read watchmen?
TJIC says:
For realism, I'd suggest _Walking Dead_. Yeah, I know, it's a zombie title...but everything is handled entirely realistically. Highly recommended.
_Ex Machina_ is also pretty realistic, aside from the central premise that the main character somehow (nanotech ?) acquired the ability to "talk to machines". Give it a shot.

Hi Cam--welcome! Take a look at Fell--$1.99 per issue, self-contained stories, gritty detective tales by Warren Ellis with atmospheric art by Ben Templesmith. Also, Testament is supposedly a pretty great religion-soaked title from Vertigo; I have the first trade but haven't read it yet.
As for the blurb vs. blog post thing, us user types have been sharing our thoughts at the forum in a couple of threads. I think streamlining the social aspect of the site is something that will evolve over time--remember it's still beta days!
Tyler says:
Good question! Every user's page has a blurb list on it. Its supposed to be a running, non-threaded, discussion.
A blog post on the otherhand, is something that only you can write in. Soon enough, blog posts will have comments as well, but eh.
Hope that makes it clear.
