Now that is some pro-level customer service! This is why Heavy Ink gets my funnybook money. Thanks, Dan!
If you were unable start your sub to Dynamite Pilot with issue one, you can go back and update it to start with #1 now – we’ve ordered more.
I’ve been thinking lately that its been far too long since I built a fort out of the sofa, blankets, and various pillows.
I think I shall do that tonight.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Issues Reviews
I picked this up on a whim and became an instant fan. I love me some clean line artwork and Scott Wegener delivers. Excellent textures in the colors, too. The story is fun. The Red 5 team seems to love what they do and it shows. I get an early Iron Man vibe crossed with a Hellboy chaser and that’s good stuff. Subscription and back issues ordered.
There are a handful of artists that belong in the shellhead hall of fame. Layton, Colan, JRJR to name my faves. Eric Canete is my new hero. 5 repulsor rays. And a bonus unibeam. Rich textures, excellent lines, great character expressions. I’m a clean line fan, but Eric’s work is the right kind of expressive. Buy all of the issues and check out his cool blog.
Now this is a comic book in the grand tradition of pulp action. Hilarious references to giant bugs. “I beat them with my violence” is one of my favorite lines evah. Quick Robin! To the Ebay!
This is a good start to a great series. You can feel the love the creators have for this genre. A bit of a stumble out of the gate, but worth the price of admission. The production values are high quality.
VRONNNNG. One of the best sound effects in comics is found several times in this issue. These guys have a great book on their hands. This issue shines. The humor is fantastic and the art is perfect.
Fantastic cover tribute to Romita/Layton. I love seeing the 70s/80s armor in action again. This story arc is great: good techno-bio-thriller theme with a re-imagined Mandarin. The cover paintings by Gerald Parel are fantastic. Guice’s pages are dark which matches the story’s mood. Good stuff!
Roberto De La Torre takes over the pencils on this issue. Great work! There’s a touch of Gene Colan in his rendition of the classic armor. I wish they had played up the old tech in the old armor a bit more. Stark has to access a directory in the armor to remind him what weaponry is available—classic! RTFM, Stark!
A great addition to the best show ever. The artwork captures the look and nuances of the actors. The story is fun, of course, but I found it a tad tough to translate Joss’ humor in the pacing of the panels. Otherwise, this is a fantastic start to a great story.
This story keeps getting better and better. Abe is my favorite BPRD character and we get a deep look into his psyche with this series. Self-doubt has always been a realistic facet of great heroes. The shadow monster that one demon casts is brilliant.
YES. What a way to wrap up this story arc. As usual, the artwork is fantastic and the colors are wonderful. The textures really make this issue. Great stuff all around: funny, beautiful artwork, and great sound effects.
The story keeps getting deeper and the artwork continues to be fantastic. Abe is great and this series is one of my favorites in the BPRD world.
I grew up on the Michelinie/JRJR/Layton Iron Man run. Of course, Iron Man #150 was in my top-ten. This limited series expands on that story. The artwork is great! Makes me nostalgic for the old days. The story is interesting, but Iron Man gets duped too easily, I thought. While I was reading, I kept yelling, “no! don’t!” like when you watch a horror flick. Still, good stuff.
Sci-Fi! Classic team of sci-fi characters, great artwork. A dash of Dune - religion and high-tech - fun series so far!
The story here is rich and the artwork is fun. I like clean line work and Spanky’s work is active and quick. It’s not polished like the pros, but that is a good thing. The work needs to be gritty for the gritty environment. The story is very timely, too.
