Well this is certainly not the greatest re-imagining of deadpool I’ve ever read. It is luckily only going to be 12 issues so if you like the character at least it doesn’t completely waste your time.
Like most max series this series has the ability to curse and offend and takes advantage of that point so much that overall it hurts the story.
The first issue for instance has agent bob raped a few times throughout. Its not funny, its gross, and it barely contributes to plot (in that the only plot is that Deadpool screws Bob over).
Its like the writers finally have the ability to write normally but are so caught up with the fact that they can say words harsher than “jack ass” that they bring themselves to the level of child who says “shit” over and over to impress their friends.
Instead of getting realistic situations we are given hideous, grotesque, and often just odd events that have no ties to anything that would be considered Mature.
I would not recommend this to someone over the age of 18 in regards to plot.
I would not recommend this to someone under 18 in regards to some of the graphic content.
Therefor I would not recommend this to anyone (unless they really really liked deadpool).
In fact unless you hear otherwise the only Max title that isn’t a cesspool of ridiculous dialogue and frivolous violence is Punishermax.
