9 issues released over a span of 18 months! Who thought that was a good idea? Needless to say the vast demand of previous knowledge fo the events that lead to this story.

I don’t know who the young avengers are, never cared. This story doesn’t really introduce you to them or fill you in on what their deal is. Often they reference stories outside of this one and I’m left scratching my head. It is as if this is just a continuation of their cancelled series and consecutive limited series (of which there are quite a few).

That aside this story requires that you have read Avengers disassembled and The House of M crossover. If you haven’t then you should put this to the side until you have; otherwise it will hold no significance for you.

The story seems poor but given that it is 9 issues it could be that it is focusing on developing the story. It may be best to put this series away for a year (a literal year) then come back to it when it has some meat on it.

Reading the fact of having an issue every two months – it often has me forgetting what exactly happened in the last issue.

I must say that the only draw to this story for myself is that its main focus (other than on the Young Avengers) is that of the Magneto family. It is interesting seeing this odd family dynamic come back.

What I don’t understand is why this couldn’t be the first story of the newest Avengers series? The last Avengers series (not New Avengers) ended with disassembled. This would’ve been a perfect starting point for the latest Avengers series picking up the pieces from where it left off.

Anyway ignoring the incredible lack of new reader friendliness this tale is decent so far. I may change my review in the many months to come as the story progresses.

As someone who has been a follower of the Young Avengers and owns every issue I can find with their name in it, I know what is going on despite not having any other background on the Avengers or the House of M. The Young Avengers series did a good job filling me in on what was going on with the Avengers and their world and this series explained to me what the House of M was.

To me, this series just a continuation of the Young Avengers series and to read it without having read the Young Avengers, seems really silly to me. The focus is clearly on Billy and his Mother and to not know Billy…well, it seems to me like you shouldn’t be reading this series.
