First, let me just get this out of the way. Crossed has little redeeming value whatsoever if you expect anything positive to happen to the characters you enjoy reading about. I’m not even sure where the writers even plan on going with this story and it’s up to issue five of nine (at this time).
The story isn’t BAD per se in terms of dialog, but when nothing good ever happens at any point, the story comes across as a masochistic mess. I suppose if you’re into that sort of thing you’ll love it, but it hasn’t done so much for me. Of course I’m going to finish reading up until the conclusion since there are only four issues left, but it will only be after I have read everything else on my list.
If you like brutal and unbelievably depressing stories, pick up Crossed. If you’re not, but still need a zombie/undead fix, go with Walking Dead.
The art however is fantastic and highly detailed. Every scene is extremely well drawn and I spend a lot of time looking at nearly everything in the background.
