After reading volume 1, I’m hooked. What a nicely written and drawn thriller. Urasawa uses some interesting camera angles and brings his plot slowly together with many tiny cliffhangers of sorts. It’s not so drawn in a typical mangaish way, one fact which I’m very happy with.

I just couldn’t put the book down and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a good thriller reading.

Nice review, I haven’t read any manga titles in quite some time but this looks like something I definitely need to check out. Masi Oka (from the tv show Heroes) said when he was asked what he would recommend to someone who never read a manga comic before,

“I would definitely recommend any of Urasawa Naoki’s stuff because he has such a brilliant mind and he tells stories in a very unique way. Monster is such a great psychological thriller, which I think is fantastic…”

I'm definitely interested in checking, I wonder how the art is when you said it wasn't drawn akin to typical manga. Anyway cool review!

by not mangaish, I simply wanted to say it’s not super cartoony. You know, big eyes, huge grins and facial expressions, that kind of thing.
