BeetleBooster

Hello all, my wife and I reside in north central Ohio. I’m just getting back into comics after having a bit of a break for a few years.

Wii Fat? Bats! Cap....

So…my wife wanted to get Wii Fit. So like a good hubby I try to be I figure I could shed a few (dozen) pounds or so. Long story short it told me I exceeded the maximum weight limit and reset the software. As a Big Bass Brother I feel like I should be proud! But as a normal guy it concerns me a tad. Oh well. I’ll get it under control.

Not much comics related…got the Captain America Omnibus. So far so good for that. Less than a quarter of the way through though. I also finished Batman: A Death in the Family. Much better than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised.

Spidey down...Booster rules!

A few weeks ago at a pretty sad little comic shop here locally I found Spiderman One More Day. My wife was somewhat interested, so we picked it up. I had high hopes she’d love it and it’d give me a good excuse to subscribe to another title. Fast forward a couple days and she REALLY didn’t like it. I don’t know specifically if she was expecting something close to the movies or what. Maybe I should see if Brand New Day would be better? Anyhow, I picked up the book and only made it through about 8 pages. I just really did not like it at all. Peter wasn’t the Peter I was familiar with in my younger days.

On a good note, I started Booster Gold from #1. Oh my goodness! The humor alone makes the book worth it. I absolutely love reading it and can’t wait till I get some more issues! My wife also enjoyed it. Though I suspect not as much as me. Oh well, can’t win them all.

I also can’t stress enough how good Atomic Robo is. It sorta reminds me of the adventures Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes) fame would have had if he were a robot built during the 1920’s. Some quality of Robo just reminds me of a kid having fun with Nazi cyborgs and whatnot. Call me crazy, but I just get that sort of feeling from the book.

‘Tis all for now, catcha later.

First Blog...May 8th, 2008

I just recently started adding a few more titles to my list. I have been slogging through Crisis on Infinite Earths (wow is that ever convoluted!). However I have enjoyed the scenes with Blue Beetle, so naturally I looked into the character some and find out the current series is pretty good. Then I look into this Booster Gold guy. Hey, he seems pretty cool. Time travel? Sweet! Count me in. He saves the Blue Beetles life? Awesome, count me in! I also read one of my NOVA issues. That was great! If I know NOTHING about a character and can pick up a random issue, really enjoy it, get into the character and even care about a talking dog for crying out loud, the book has gotta be good. I’m gonna wait till I get the trade to continue reading. Till next time!
