I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Runaways #1(vol.3). I normally tend to avoid books aimed at teens, but the first issue was so interesting that I had to go back and read volume one. This series is a lot of fun, and one of the most unique books out there.

As a child I enjoyed the 90’s animated Spider-Man series so much that I rarely missed an episode. Years later, after breaking into my comic book fandom, I discovered that the Spider-Man of the comics was not the same Spider-Man of the cartoon. This was to be expected, but I was nonetheless dismayed at how depressing ASM really was…
Then One More Day / Brand New Day happened and changed everything. Suddenly Spider-Man was no longer bound by his marriage and the book looked, well… fun! I started by subscription with issue 546 (the first issue of BND) and have enjoyed every issue since.

I jumped onto this book just in time for issue 25. I’d read the first hardcover (#1-12) and was (pun intended) astonished. Whedon made me a fan of the X-Men again. I read the remaining issues and subscribed just before the release of #25, the new era. In spite of mixed reactions from other fans, I find that Ellis and Bianchi are doing a wonderful job thus far of bringing the mutant greatness.

Matt Fraction introduced me to this great take on the Punisher two years ago (issue #1) and I’ve been with the book ever since.
It takes Punisher out of his usual playing field (murderers, rapists, etc.) and sets him up against a new target: super villains. As a result, Frank Castle is placed right where he needs to be – the Marvel Universe (this is important because Punisher MAX is more or less a separate universe).

Iron Man has been a favorite of mine since I was a child, so I immediately jumped at the chance to read the comics when the time came.
He remains one of favorite characters (and titles) to this day.
