What is this list?

In 1986, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the creation of the Marvel Universe, Marvel’s EiC Jim Shooter decided to launch the New Universe. New heroes, new problems, and completely separate from the Marvel U. The New Universe was not the runaway success Shooter had hoped for, and in 1989 the line came to an end. Looking back now, there were some excellent stories being told there. I believe the New Universe suffered from being ahead of its time. Here I present Marvel’s collected editions of their original New Universe.

“There is a weapon in the universe more powerful than all others. No more coveted, feared, loved, or hated thing exists. Only a fool, or a madman – or the right man – would dare possess… the Star Brand!” Those words introduce the tale of Ken Connell, wielder of the Star Brand. How can a comic fan NOT be drawn in by those words? This edition collects Star Brand issues #1-7, written (#7 plotted) by New Universe/Star Brand creator Jim Shooter.
