Customer Reviews
Having just read this, it’s fresh on my mind. I’ll start off with Tim Sale on art and just say that it was hard to read with his almost featureless characters, really cringe-worthy. Jeph Loeb didn’t do too much better, but I will give credit to the entertaining story. The way he tells it is where I’m irked, most of the time it’s not too bad, but about a quarter of it makes me want to turn the page and hope the next one is better. I think Batman cried 2 or 3 times during this book and that isn’t Batman to me. I’m giving the artist and writer each 1 star, and a 3rd star for what the story could have been. Also, I share a birthday with the main antagonist, “The Roman”
Brilliant! In my opinion, this is the best Batman story of the last 20 years! I do have to disagree with the other reviewer about Tim Sale’s art. I love it and think it fits the story perfectly. There’s just a dark and edgy style to it that blends seamlessly with such a dark toned story. Highly recommended!
