Customer Reviews
So, I had never actually read any of the Shazam stories before this, I just never got interested, but when I noticed this book was done by the same person who came up with Bone (which I love), I decided I should at least give it a try. I am quite happy that I did! Honestly, the art is great enough to look at that I’d probably still love it even if the story was junk, but luckily that wasn’t a problem. I really enjoyed the story that this book told and because of this, coupled with Jeff Smith’s captivating illustration,I had a real fun time reading it. Sure, this book isn’t super dark and the characters aren’t as super complex like they are in a lot of more adult-oriented books, but I don’t really think that is a bad thing in this case. Don’t get me wrong though, I also love a lot of the darker books, Fables is pretty much my favorite series right now, but sometimes a brightly colored, action-packed, more childish book can be just as enjoyable. So, yeah, I really enjoyed this book and I hope this review helps anybody who might be thinking about checking this book out (you should).
