We try to make things as smooth as possible on heavyink.com, but occasionally bugs slip through. So, if you happen to see something weird, or you get an error, feel free to drop us a message here. We’ll fix it asap.

So I can add blurbs on my page to my RSS, and blog posts on the pages of others…but what about adding blurbs that are on others pages?

I’m already getting into conversations* where I find myself having to remember that I left a comment for someone, and then go back and look at their page, instead of the site just telling me…

*Maybe “conversations” is too strong a word for one-liners about Michael Caine? Not that it isn’t fun.

I realize I’m talking to myself here, but…

It would be great if there were some way to retain your search on the screen after clicking to buy something. Right now, when you hit “Buy,” it goes back to your cart, and you have to use the back arrow in your browser to get to the search page again.

Thanks.

If you’re talking to yourself, then I must exist only in your mind.

what about adding blurbs that are on others pages?

Well, the short answer is that we thought about this, but thought it might be a little creepy, allowing anyone to subscribe to your blurbs. But, I suppose if theres a demand for it… Or perhaps a different solution altogether is in order.

when you hit “Buy,” it goes back to your cart

This will be a thing of the past soon. In a few weeks we’re going to roll out an “express ordering” feature, which will allow you to order things with a single click, without disrupting your browsing.

I guess it gets down to how people are using the site to communicate—if the forums become active, then the blurbs might function more like the “blurbs” on MySpace do (I forget what they call them). Just a way of saying hello, passing a comment, etc.

I know that in some cases, I would probably have left a comment on a blog post rather than writing a blurb…maybe that’s a workaround? You can track blog responses to any post on the site?

Or maybe when you friend someone, somehow their latest blurbs appear in an optional window on your page? Or in a pop-up type window that appears automatically when you mouse over their image in your friends listing?

Also, will there be a friends approval mechanism as there is on MySpace? Right now, anyone can be anyone else’s friend, which has its own potential for creepiness…

Yeah, I think we need to pay attention to how people are trying to use the community features, see what sticks and expand where necessary. I can see people having discussions via blurbs, reviews and comments, mini-blogs (if we allow replies), and this forum. We added the forum because the blurbs didn’t seem quite community focussed enough.

The display of the title page for Atomic Robo (http://heavyink.com/title/514-Atomic-Robo) is wonky on Safari 2 (Mac OS X 10.4.10). The stars end up squashed up against the right edge of the cover image, and the various subscribe buttons are only showing a little of their left edge.

I would like to be able to separate out my Issues and my Graphic Novel subscriptions on the Subscriptions page. In fact, I think this page could use several sorting features—alphabetically, by issues/graphic novels, maybe by publisher?

Thanks. This place is RAD and you guys are doing an awesome job.

Ugh! It looks like lots of title pages have issues in Safari. That’s particularly sad, given that Tyler and I both spend much of our lives attached to mac keyboards. I guess that’ll teach us to only use Firefox… I’m not sure when we’ll get to this one, but it goes on the bug list!

Great idea, filed as a feature request. Our list of stuff to do is really long, but I think we’re knocking things off at a pretty good rate! A lot of the work lately has been on the behind the scenes stuff involved in actually ordering and shipping comics, but hopefully we’ll be getting some cool new stuff out soon…

I can’t speak for everyone but I know that what is already here is so freakin cool that I can’t wait for more features! that’s why I keep on with the annoying e-mails and posts. :)

BUG: In “Update Account Settings”, when you update your address from “Change Addresses”, the site takes you to the basic_settings page after the update is complete instead of back to either the addresses or account settings pages.

BUG: When you go to “Change Credit Card”, you can’t see if you’ve already added a credit card or which one is in use. (I do like that it lets you update your billing address if there is an issue with the card.) Also, it is not obvious which cards you take. (I usually use American Express for any recurring web transactions, but it seems that you don’t take it. My Mastercard worked without any issues.)

Thank you. If you can… help us Safari Zombies enjoy the site.
I’m not sure what mark up language to use on this forum (HTML, or BBCode, et.)
It’s not on my screen.

(cry)... I can’t do a bio, or blog / blurb either.
Yes, Safari sucks, but I’m too lazy to change up. So there! Hahah!

Hi – not so much a bug… but if the user could get some kind of visual indication that changes were saved when they click the “Update” button on subscriptions. I wasn’t sure if my changed saved so I ended up clicking the button 3 or 4 times.

Small bug, in the UI. Probably nothing major. Whenever I’m in the forums, the “Browse” tab is highlighted at the top. Just a FYI. I’m using Firefox if that has any bearing on the situation.

129_small blue_j 42 post(s)

I noticed that too: The “Forum” tab is highlighted when I’m at the General Forum page, but it goes back to “Browse” when I click on a topic.

It looks like the tabs are only accurate if I’m at the exact page those tabs link to. (example: Click on “Recommended”, that tab is highlighted. Click on a title, “Browse” is highlighted… Click on my profile tab, it’s highlighted, edit my bio: “Browse” again)

(btw: I’m using Flock… which is an off-shoot of Firefox)

blue_j guessed right, the code that decides what tab to highlight is too picky. I’ll put it on the bug list, but I suspect there are other things you’d rather we work on first :->

I just found out that I can add text to my bio, but not subtract. I’m going to restart, try another browser, etc. but in the meantime, has anyone else had the same problem?

Ah, I see what you mean. I did find a way to work around it: add a character, then you can delete as you like.

11_small castewar 10 post(s)

Faaaaaantastic! I wouldn’t have though to try that, because at that point, I didn’t want to add more text I didn’t know how to get rid of. Now we’ve got a work around!

cheers

Hey guys, I am unable to unsubscribe from issues. Is that a bug?

please make sure to add outgoing@smartflix.com

While there are clearly benefits to reusing code, there are also landmines… boom! Thanks very much for the heads up!
