Customer Reviews
I must confess; I was somewhat disappointed in the Bizarro arc, which had me very excited thanks to Eric Powell's artwork. Powell delivers here, but the writing from Johns & Donner seemed a bit scattershot and all over the map.
I must say that at least some small part of that is the whole Bizarro speech convention, where they say negatives of everything they really mean. Over in All-Star Superman, Grant Morrison has gone as literal as possible with this, and it actually makes them EASIER to understand.
Johns writes the opposite sometimes, and the truth other times, and it's hard to know which is which, which confuses me. A tiny quirk, I know, but it turned me off enough to keep me at arm's length from this arc, which still had some great moments. Superman's dad getting powers was a great concept and gave the proceedings some emotional impact near the end.
