We get to see Tony Stark come full circle, almost as if he’s back to his origins. Did he become lazy with wealth and influence for all these years? Did we become lazy in our expectations for the Iron Man with all his gadgetry and the full weight of SHIELD behind him? Now that he’s stripped of the might of SI and down to just the two people in the world by his side, he will have to turn inside to become the Iron Man once again. It’s a nice plot contrivance and I hope Matt Fraction takes his time with it. It would be great for this to be a year-long (or more) story arc of the re-ascendency of Iron Man, better than before. The pencils of Larocca and the overall layout and colors are still eye-catching and dynamic for me.
