Customer Reviews
This is the first time I’ve read this book and I really didn’t know what to expect coming in. I’ve been intrigued by The Red Hulk and the art looks awesome so I thought I would check it out. What I found was a big, silly, laugh out loud issue that is full of weird plot twists and great artwork. What can I say? I loved it.
I’ll admit that I am new to comics in general so I have no idea what a Hulk title is supposed to feel like. I expected action and there is plenty here to go around. I wanted Banner to Hulk out. Check. I wanted Red Hulk. Check. Did I really want Grey Hulk? Not really, but I ran with it and laughed.
As the issue went on I was confused by the plot and the new characters that showed up. I plan on checking out the trade for the first six issues, but something tells me that part of the Hulk charm is the ridiculousness of the plot. I would rather have had one fleshed out story than two compact stories, but they both humored me and made me wonder just what the heck is going on.
Maybe I should be mad and confused, but I am actually intrigued and interested in what happens next. Red Hulk’s identity has yet to be revealed and I’m interested to see where, if anywhere, that story leads. Jeph Loeb has more than proven his storytelling ability in the past and I’m willing to give him a chance with this strangely delightful book.
