Wow. What a slapped together book. After the excellent Skrull-arch, this gave me whiplash. All was not awful, the exchanges between the Black Knight and concerned father, but goodness, but the script felt feverishly scribbed on a table napkin. The art was a disappointment too, (if Kirk wasn’t back next issue I’d drop this book on that alone). It felt like a poor John Byrne imitation, and I’m talking new Byrne (ouch). He put a few nice shots together, Blade stepping off the plane being the best but that’s all that came to mind upon my initial twice-over. Maybe more will stand out over further reading, but I’m not hopeful.

Anyway, this is a strike against it, but after the strength of the last arch, it’ll take a few more missteps to kill my interest. Leonard Kirk, come baaaaacckkkk.
