Customer Reviews
This is the reason I finally came onboard with Heavyink.com. You see, my LCS can’t seem to keep my pull folder stocked with the right stuff. I specifically pre-ordered this issue, but didn’t get it when it came out. I did get issued 2-3. This means I read the story out of order until I found they still had it here. As to the story at hand, 4 stars. Geoff Johns, who wasn’t even a blip on the radar when I retired from collecting monthlies in ‘94, has got to be best DC has going for it right now. He’s prolific, but doesn’t water down the dialogue on this series (can’t say the same for Justice Society though)like so many writers do today (ahem, you listening Grant Morrison). People like Roy Thomas, Cary Bates, Gerry Conway, and Marv Wolfman actually wrote story and dialogue. I don’t want 22 pages of splash panels and pinups with a few monsyllabic statements and sound effects thrown in. And you want to charge me how much per month? It’s no longer feasable to put up with a short run of lousy stories by some hack just because you want a full-run of some series. I can see why people buy specific storylines in TPB or hardcover. This one was definitely worth the cover price, and actually cheaper than the collected edition. Highly recommended. Kollins is the man for Flash, but Van Sciver should be awesome too next month for Flash Rebirth.
