Some more of the same. Everyone sitting around and talking about what’s going on in fear itself (or went on since they are talking about events that already transpired).
The comic ends with a hint that a character may have died but its cheesy bs. if he doesn’t come at the end to save the day then he’ll be revealed to be alive in an issue or two.
Really there’s no hook to this story, it is using the same tired twists like “oooh he might be dead” except he’s not a minor character so no.
that and the only hook in issue one was that theres an odd love triangle forming between hawkeye, mockingbird, and (spoilers)spiderwoman(endspoilers)
its not even really a triangle since the couple is seperated and no one really cares that the other two date. I know I don’t care, I don’t even know why spiderwoman is in this title (she’s actually pretty useless so far).
ANYWAY the redeeming factor is that the art is by Bachelo and he is amazing. other than that this series is far from stellar.
In fact if it wasn’t trying so hard at tying itself closely to stories of old or adapting interview stories, it might actually be good (as in some originality might be nice here).
of the two Bendis avengers I’d say New Avengers is better in that its at least surprising and doesn’t come off as cheesy or ridiculous or boring (well maybe ridiculous with some of the character choices).
