PRINCE OF POWER #2: Valhalla Blues
Through clever deception, The Olympus Group has fallen to The Pantheon. With the destruction of the Promeathean Flame, Vali Halfling has brought Mortality upon the Olympians, for Old Age and Death has now begun to touch the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus. Having claimed the Apples of Idunn and the Ambrosia of Olympus, the Master of The Pantheon dares the Council of Godheads to try and stop him in his quest for full omniscience as he prepares to overthrow them all! With dark words, the seeds of doubt and fear are sown: Did Amadeus Cho, the new Prince of Power, betray the Gods?
Elsewhere, while battling Warrior Spirits and Thor, Amadeus Cho pleads his innocence of the theft of Idunn’s Golden Apples. Amidst the clash of storm and lightning, insane Korean martial arts and Banner Tech, the new Prince of Power beats some sense into the Thunder God’s head with the Golden Adamantine Mace of the late Hercules. Coming to trust in the words of Cho, Thor takes them into the Duat to find the Tome of Thoth, but deep in this Egyptian Underworld they must face the dreaded Eye of Ra: Sekhmet, Lady of Slaughter!
As Vali Halfling prepares for his ultimate triumph over the gods, a prisoner has escaped: a certain Gorgon who had once been Cho’s girlfriend . . . What will this Amazonian Queen and sworn enemy of Athena do now that she is free?
Beyond the distant stars, the Chaos King, the Great Darkness still comes, to bring about the doom of all . . .
I personally have enjoyed this mythic series, but I do sometimes regret that for the sake of comedy and laughs, the Gods and Goddesses of the Marvel Universe are being made weaker to the point where almost any mortal super hero could defeat them. There should be a larger difference between the power of a mortal hero and a divine god.
