PRINCE OF POWER #1: Blasphemy can be Fun

Who now is the greatest Hero of this new Heroic Age, the mightiest Paragon to face the coming Darkness? Is it Iron Man, Master of Technology? Could it be Captain America, the Symbol of Virtue, Devotion and Sacrifice? Or is it Thor Odinson, God of Thunder and Lightning? I say thee nay, for Athena the Goddess of Wisdom claims to the Council of Godheads that the greatest Champion of this Heroic Age is: Amadeus Cho, the late Herc’s best friend and new C.E.O. of The Olympus Group.

After recapturing the escaped Griffin, formally of the Hood’s Villain Army, Amadeus continues his quest to find and save Hercules with the aid of Bruce Banner and the resources of The Olympus Group. However, a four o’ clock meeting changes everything, for Vali Halfling, Head of The Pantheon, has proposed a deal to bring about the total destruction of the gods and become the new gods! Rejecting the idea, Amadeus, the world’s former number one Hulk Fan, gave his answer to the 90’s Villain. However, as to the plan of godhood and divine omniscience . . .

Ultimate Godhood is now within Amadeus Cho’s reach! All he needs now are: Ambrosia, Nectar of the Gods; the Apples of Idunn, Golden Fruit of Asgard; the Book of Thoth, the Egyptian Tome of Magic; and the Sacred Moon-Cup of Dhanvantari, Physician of the Hindu Gods. Bringing these things together, “full, all-powerful godhood, undeniable godhood, may be attained!” While seeking the Apples of Idunn, the evil schemes of Vali Halfling may have brought Amadeus to face the wrath of Thor!

As for those Marvel Fans who are disappointed in Amadeus Cho taking on the Legacy of Hercules, know that this Prince of Power is a four-issue mini-series. Until we see the end, we must continue to support this “angsty brooding teen genius billionaire mythslayer” because he seeks to bring back to life the real “Prince of Power”: Hercules! We do want Hercules back, right? As I have said before, as long as Pak and Van Lente continue to bring the Mythological into the Marvel Universe, I will be happy with this series.

Elsewhere, beyond the world of mortals, a Great Darkness draws ever closer! For as the Griffin said: “I can feel him coming . . . All things monstrous gorge on his approach, as tides swell with the Gibbous Moon! With the Mythslayer Hercules dead, do you think you can stand against our Inhuman Legions?” Soon, Amatsu-Mikaboshi, God of Evil and Darkness, will take his revenge on the worlds of gods and mortals.
