Customer Reviews
I didn’t intentionally pick up the second issue of “Cinderella From Fabletown With Love”, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.
Even worse, I couldn’t find the first issue of the series until well after I had acquired the following 4 issues, so I only recently got around to reading issue #2 (and 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6).
The cover art for the first issue really grabbed my eye. But the shoddy paper, thin cover materials and poor printing of the comic (all typical of DC’s books) kept me from buying it when it was new. But when, as I mentioned, I inadvertently picked up the second issue, I decided to get the rest of the books in the series. And I’m glad I bothered.
As the title would indicate, the comic is sort of a fairy tale. If you read DC’s Fables title (I don’t) you’re probably already familiar with the background of Fabletown. But even if you’re jumping in blind, as I did, you’ll enjoy the 007-meets-the-Grimm-Fairy-Tales aspects of the story.
Honestly, Frank Cammuso does it a lot better in his Max Hamm books. And Zenescope does it much worse in their Grimm horror adaptations. But it’s a pretty good read for fairy-tale-fans.
When the story ends at the end of the series, there’s still some gas left in the tank, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a second series if this one sells well at all. I just hope they hold on to the same cover artist. Chrissie Zullo’s covers made the books.
